For more than a quarter of a century, the world’s finest stair runners have been designed and made in England by Roger Oates. They are made from British Cheviot wool, spun and dyed in Yorkshire, then flat-woven on specially-built looms to create a distinctive herringbone texture with perfectly clean edges that do not require binding.

Finally, each stair runner is meticulously hand-finished at the company’s workshops in Herefordshire, to create a truly unique product blending traditional craftsmanship with today’s design and technology. The traditional flat weave gives these stairs runners a remarkable suppleness, enabling a perfect fit around winders and other complex shapes, making them suitable for almost any staircase, whether a straight flight or a winding staircase.

The range now encompasses more than 100 designs, including bold striped borders such as Fitzroy Bright, colour-on-colour weaves, detailed stripes-within-stripes and wide coloured bands. The Roger Oates Fulham range has the beautiful trademark herringbone design which runs through many of the ranges. Roger Oates Henley Soft Black is epitome of classic elegance with strong borders, and subtle herringbone.
