Herringbone wood flooring, also known as parquet wood flooring is enjoying a renaissance in recents years. Herringbone wood flooring was first used by Italian craftsmen in 1539 for private homes in Italy and across Europe. With such history it is not surprising that homeowners are rediscovering the timeless quality of this beautiful patterned parquet flooring. As consumer demand has grown manufacturers have responded by increasing the choice available. Larger herringbone planks are now available thanks to engineered boards which are more stable than solid blocks.
Traditionally unfinished solid blocks would be fitted pinned to the sub-floor. Once the floor was laid a protective coat of oil was applied to the surface. If you want to recreate an authentic parquet herringbone wood floor our Venice range is available in a variety of block sizes and grades which can be fitted with a two block border to the perimeter of the room. To complete that traditional look we can fit a contrasting inlay strip. The border and inlay will flow around the contours of your rooms making a beautiful bespoke feature. This feature is not available with any other type of wood flooring.
If you are fitting over under floor heating our Modena collection recreates the traditional style using an engineered board that can be installed with an inlay and border. It is important to follow the correct method of installation which you can read here. You will find most of our herringbone floors are pre-finished which reduces cost, making them more affordable. We provide a free home survey and installation service for all our wood floors for clients across Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, London and the home counties.
